1. Though the practice of the Grey Craft does not require adherence to any particular or specific rede, only the understanding of how witchcraft/sorcery works, members of The Grey Coven are required to swear an Oath of Secrecy upon initiation as Elders (Full Members). Members who are eligible for initiation will be informed of what the Oath of Secrecy entails so that they may make a decision of whether they wish to continue with the Initiation Rite, remain as a teaching member, or leave the Coven.
2. Coven Ranks: The Grey Coven has four degrees of rank as follows:
a) Apprentice: Apprentice Members are new members who have just begun their studies. They are devoted to learning the Grey Craft. Apprentices have zero to 6 months of experience with witchcraft/sorcery. As members, they partake in ritual celebrations, yet they are not yet permitted to take part in the casting of any spells. This is a starting rank and the beginning stages for new members. b) Emergent: Emergent Members are members who have been dedicated to their studies and are growing and developing. Their knowledge of the Grey Craft is expanding and advancing. As members, they participate in ritual celebrations and, depending on how advanced they are in their studies, might be permitted to be in attendance when the Coven is casting. c) Elder: Elders are members who have completed their studies and have been initiated into the Coven as Full Members. They are fully committed to the Grey Craft and to this Coven. Elders share themselves as mentors and teachers, guiding other Members to the best of their knowledge and abilities. Elders continue to participate in rituals and spellwork, as well as continue to enhance their knowledge and personal selves via the perpetuation of learning. d) High Elder: The High Elder has the responsibility of leadership. She is the leader of this Coven. She is a teacher, mentor, and guide to all Members. She is a mediator when troubles arise. She has dedicated her life to the Grey Craft. She has studied and trained for many years and incorporates the Grey Craft into her daily life. She often leads rituals and spellwork, though not exclusively. One of her many responsibilities is to provide guidance and support to the Members of this Coven. The High Elder passes on her wisdom and knowledge freely. She never professes to be all-knowing. If she does not know the answer to a question, she will seek it out. When the time comes, the High Elder will select an Elder to instruct her/him in the responsibilities of being High Elder, so that the Elder may be initiated as her successor as High Elder when the High Elder retires or when she passes on.
3. Coven Attire: When the Coven meets for rituals and/or spellwork, members are required to wear robes. The robes are hooded. The color of the robes is dependent on the member's rank.
4. Addressing the Elders and the High Elder: The Elders and the High Elder are to always be addressed as "Elder" or "High Elder" by all members as a show of respect. This includes when communicating with them in person (this includes in-person interviews for membership consideration), via phone, or via email (this also includes email correspondence between an applicant for membership and the Elders and High Elder). For example, an Elder named "John" will be addressed as "Elder John" and not just "John" ("Hello, Elder John"). The High Elder will be addressed as either "High Elder Morgana" or "High Elder" ("Hello, High Elder Morgana" or "Hello, High Elder").
5. Coven Meetings: All members are required to attend all Coven meetings. This includes all lessons as well as gatherings for rituals and spellwork.
Additional information about the Coven will be furnished to those who become members.
